My first accident.

At 5:53am this Thursday morning I experience my first accident. It is nothing I am proud of as I consider myself to be a very good driver. I was driving to work when I was attempting to switch lanes when a large SUV decided he wasn't going to let me in and be cut me off. Cut me off to the point where I had three choices; hit the guy in front of me, hit the guy cutting me off or hitting the brakes. I hit the brakes.

As I hit the brakes I slid out of control making first contact with a parking sign which knocked off my front bumper, then finally came to a stop as I found myself in my car which spun into the fence of a house right off of greenwood ave.

I guess I should be lucky that no other party was involved and that I wasn't physically harmed, but I am now carless until I find out what my car is worth to fix.

Moral of this story is to drive safe and it's better to get somewhere a little bit late rather than not getting there at all.

And by the way I hate this damn snow.

  1. Seems the problem was at least partly with the guy who wouldn't let you into the other lane. It happens too much around here -- people giving you room to merge until you actually try to.

My first (and only) accident was also winter-related (as in, trying to stop on a patch of solid ice). I guess the good thing is that everyone is alright.

  2. Accidents are never fun. I have been in 3. Two while I was driving and one with my fiancee driving. I hate the adrenalin rush that comes after it. It feels like I am gonna have a heart attack.
