What to do...Thousands of Feet in the Sky

I just recently booked my flight for Spring Break '10. Destination: Los Angeles. My 21st birthday is March 6th and my flight is for March 17th, so I will be able to go out legally while in LA to bars and have a few celebration drinks. I'm not a huge drinker by all means, I am more a social drinker than anything and enjoy a beer here and there, but I will take exception that weekend and party it up.

I'm faced with a dilemma though. I am a horrible flyer. I envy those people who could go on a plane and sleep the whole ride there. How do they do it? I have to be up and alert as to what is going on around me, but by being up the whole ride, it takes a lot longer. So I have recently started downloading some music for my 6 hour flight to LA, in hopes that it will but me at ease on my trip to LA, yet steadily move time along.

This past summer my sister, my mother and myself drove to Ontario, Canada for a wedding. In the car I downloaded the latest season of the HBO show Entourage on iTunes, to put on my iPhone which worked perfectly. The only bad thing about that, is the video takes up more battery than the audio does, so I don't want my phone dying midflight.

So I'm a pretty big music fan, mainly hip-hop, rock, alternative, and some country (Zac Brown Band) being my favorites. I have downloaded the Zac Brown Band cd "The Foundation", as well as all the Eminem CD's, since I lost them all except for "Encore". I also downloaded the Jay-Z pack, "The Blueprint Collection", to add to my music library. So it's safe to say I have about 1,200 songs on my iPhone. BUT I NEED MORE!!!!

If you guys want send me some suggestions of some good music and I will likely add it to my iPhone.

  1. How exciting that you're going to LA. I hear that it's fantastic out there. I have a friend who goes to school in LA, UCLA actually, but unfortunately I haven't been able to visit him yet. But in regards of the music problem. Last year I went to Aruba on my spring break and the flight was also long, about 10 hrs. I took my iPhone and my iPod which were both filled with music. After listening for two hours I had enough. I then reached for my lap top and later for my magazines and by the time I knew the flight was over. You should probably consider other alternatives other than your iPhone, like a lap top, or portable tv, or good old magazines. As long as you keep yourself occupied the flight will be a breeze. 1,200 songs is plenty, but if you want check out Tokyo Hotel "Scream," Alice in the Chains "Black Gives Way To Blue," or Creed "Full Circle." So that's what I think, I hope you'll enjoy your flight and your stay in Los Angeles.
